Yesterday, March 14, on a quiet Koryatovich street in Velyky Berezny they installed and consecrated a small slab of black granite – the plaque in honor of the well-known patriot and journalist, politician Ivan Rohach.
Symbolically, the celebration of the 74th anniversary of Carpatho-Ukraine in the region began in Velyky Berezny, because in his short but brilliant twenty-eight years tragic life Ivan Rohach managed to leave a bright mark in the annals of national glory.
Young Transcarpathian nationalists, members of the youth "Carpathian Sich" decided to preserve the memory of the Deputy Chairman of the National Defense Organization, the Secretary of the President Augustin Voloshin, a member of the OUN, editor of the "Ukrainian word" weekly (1941), shot in 1942 in Babi Yar, Ivan Rohach.
A small solemn assembly, which, however, was held without representatives of local authorities, was memorable for the memorial service and short stories of Ivan Rohach, the chance to learn about the turbulent past of a young Ukraine, the slogan on the plaque "Ukraine is above all!" said by Ivan Rohach once during a memorial celebration of the battle at Kruty.
