Transcarpathian prosecution for supervision over the observance of laws in the military sphere have proved in court the guilt of a military officer in spoilage of more than 2,500 pieces of military equipment
costing more than 200,000 UAH
Beregovo District Court in Transcarpathian region, in the proceeding of the crime under Part 1, Art. 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (neglect of military service), convicted a former commander of a military unit in Transcarpathian region, whose actions resulted in destruction of public property worth over 200,000 UAH.
The prosecutors proved in court the lack of impulse propelling charges and additional long-range propelling charges for 82-mm mortar shells in amount of 2571 pieces. It was proved that the former commander of the automobile company, being an official responsible person, vested with organizational and administrative functions, had been negligently performing his duties. Through his fault, the military equipment was being stored improperly for about a year and, as a result, it became unfit for use as intended.
The court determined the penalty in the form of official restriction for 1 year, with deduction of 10% of his pay to the state to recover losses caused by the criminal offense in amount of 218,257 UAH – Mykola Hutsulyak, the spokesman of the Prosecutor of the Western region of Ukraine for the supervision over observance of laws in the military sphere reported.
