In Transcarpathia, border guards detained five “divers”

This morning, border guards of the department "Dilove" of the Mukachevo detachment, while patrolling the border, detained five residents of Transcarpathian region.

The men in diving suits were detained on the bank of the Tisa river, 25 meters from the border. Interacting units and colleagues from the neighbouring country were informed about the detention. Currently, the involvement of these individuals to the smuggling of tobacco products across the border is being established. The investigation is ongoing.

It should be noted that in search of gain, organizers of smuggling completely disregard health or lives of people. Recall that earlier this year, border guards found two bodies of men in diving suits on the bank of the Tisa. It was found out that the dead men lived in Rakhiv district and apparently were engaged in smuggling of cigarettes across the Tisa river to the other side of the border.

The State Border Guard Service appeals to residents of the border area with a request to refuse any offers to get engaged in smuggling activities and not to expose your lives to danger.
