An officer of the Mukachevo border guard detachment demanded from a local resident one and a half thousand US dollars for simplifying the procedure for customs clearance of a vehicle with food going abroad.
The inspector was detained at his workplace while receiving a bribe. The arrest was carried out by the Security Service of Ukraine together with the military prosecutor’s office of the Uzhgorod garrison and the internal security of the State Border Guard Service. Source.
During the search of the premises of the department, the SBU operatives seized illegally received cash (900 euros, 200 dollars, 16,000 hryvnias and 2,100 lei) hidden behind the radiators of the office premises and bathroom.
The offender was arrested in accordance with Art. 208 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of Ukraine. Urgent operational investigative actions are being conducted to identify all the persons involved in the corrupt activities.
