In Transcarpathia, a woman was hit by a car

The injured woman was taken to hospital in critical condition. 
According to the Communications Department of Transcarpathian Regional Police, in the village of Kolochava, a 32-year-old driver hit a female pedestrian and fled the scene. After that, the man crashed into a power line pole. The violator, who was driving under the influence of alcohol, was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. 
"Yesterday, May 4, at about 3:30 p.m., the police received a report of a car accident with victims in the village of Kolochava, Mizhhirya district," – the statement reads. 
The police of the local department found out that the driver of a VAZ 2107 had lost control and hit a female pedestrian walking along the roadside in the same direction. After the crash, the man fled the scene without stopping. The driver was stopped by a power line pole, which he ran into 700 meters from the site of the previous crash. 
The victim, a 58-year-old resident of the village of Kolochava, was taken to the intensive care unit of the district hospital with serious injuries. 
Police officers at the scene found out that the car was driven by a 32-year-old resident of the same villager, the man was in a state of intoxication. 1.8 ppm of alcohol was found in his blood. 
“Investigators of Mizhhirya police department, in coordination with the local prosecutor’s office, charged the driver with a crime under Part 3 of Article 135 (Leaving in danger) and Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of traffic safety rules, which caused serious bodily injury to the victim) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The violator was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The case is under pre-trial investigation,” – the police reported.
