In Poland five Ukrainians were detained because of problems with visas

Employees of the Polish Border Guard Service recently detained five citizens of Ukraine, who were in Poland with illegally obtained visas. The Ukrainians were detained near the border with Germany. This was reported in the press service of the Border Guard Service on Thursday.   "Each visa has been issued for work in Poland, but no foreigner was planning to implement it. The detainees are awaiting for deportation procedure and punishment for a crime, which – due to the fact that they admitted their guilt – will be less severe," – said the press service. As UNIAN reported earlier, in the first half of 2012 the Polish border guards detained over 800 Ukrainians for violation of stay in Poland, which is one third more than that during the first six months of 2011. The number of issued Polish visas for the same period increased by 13% – to more than 310,000 pieces. Polish border guards often detain Ukrainians because they work in Poland without required documents, have expired or illegally use their work visas: for example, travel to work in other states of the Schengen zone, which Poland joined in late 2007.
