In Mukachevo, near the train station, a woman was raped. One of the suspects has been caught

The police opened a criminal investigation at the request of a 24-year-old resident Irshava district. The applicant claims that unknown men raped her near the train station in Mukachevo. The police have caught one of the suspects and are interrogating him. The others are wanted.

Yesterday, at 3:30, a crew of Mukachevo patrol police received a report of a rape on Stantsiyna Street in Mukachevo. The statement of rape was made by a 24-year-old resident of Irshava district. The victim, who is 6 months pregnant, said that she had been in the city of Beregovo on personal matters. From there, she arrived by a taxi to the city of Mukachevo where she planned to catch a bus to Irshava. She went to the bus station to buy a bus ticket home to Irshava district. However, the woman missed the bus and came back to the train station by a taxi.

The taxi driver advised her to contact his friend, who would find her cheap accommodation for the night. The woman agreed. A few minutes later, an unknown man came and told the pregnant woman to follow him. But having walked a few meters, the man hit the woman, she fell. While still conscious, the victim heard the stranger calling someone. The woman hardly recalls the course of events after the blow. She suggests that there were three attackers. When she regained consciousness, there was nobody around.

The police asked her to describe what the men looked like and immediately gave information to all crews in the city. 15 minutes later, on Dukhnovich street, patrol policemen stopped a car "Opel Omega" with two men inside. The victim identified the alleged rapist. It was a 24-year-old resident of Mukachevo. The man was tested for alcohol content in the blood – 1.09 ppm. The man refused to explain anything.  The choice of a pretrial restraint is being decided. Other accomplices are being identified.

Criminal proceeding over this incident was opened under Part 3 of Art.152 Criminal Code of Ukraine (Rape). This article provides for the punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 7 to 12 years.

The victim is hospitalized in Mukachevo.
