In Mukachevo, fake war veterans were exposed

Employees of the State Service for Combating Economic Crimes of the Mukachevo police department caught a number of facts of fake "Veteran of War – Combatant" certificates

Under the current legislation of Ukraine, certain categories of citizens are entitled to benefits associated with the performance of their duties or services to the state in the past.     

Some residents of Mukachevo have for a long time used such benefits illegally by presenting fake certificates of combatants.

Mukachevo law enforcement officers have currently opened three cases against the criminals who intentionally faked and used certificates and status of combatants. These cases are pending in court. Another unfair pensioner was notified of being a suspect. In addition, they have registered two cases with obvious signs of a forgery under the mentioned scheme. However, the police suspect that it is not a complete list of those who use false documents. Offenders submit fake certificates to the Department of Labor and Social Welfare in order to obtain benefits for housing and communal services, to the Pension Fund Office to unlawfullly receive a pension allowance.

Now, however, the people who choose to deceive the state, will have to answer to the law under Art. 358 (Forgery of documents, their sale and use) and under Art. 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, – Nataliya Mashiko, Mukachevo City Police Department informed.
