Yesterday, April 17, 2014, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Peter Burian was in Uzhgorod with a working visit.
During the visit, the Secretary of State met with representatives of the diplomatic, expert, scientific, political and business elite in the form of a communication "with a cup of tea." Co-organizer of the meeting was Janka Burianova – the Consulate General of the Slovak Republic in Uzhgorod.
The Acting Head of the Chop customs Igor Strichyk was also invited for the "Tea with the Secretary of State" and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia.
The main topic of conversation was a new format of relations between Ukraine and the Slovak Republic after presidential elections in Slovakia.
– Meetings in such a format give more opportunities for open and less formal communication. We can resolve many issues, including those relating to cross-border cooperation. In this area, there is a huge potential for cooperation, in particular, the problem of queues at the border. Citizens must spend at the border as little time as possible. But this requires, among other things, the improvement of communication. Several checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Slovak border are in need of renovation and the Slovak party, as a member of the European Union plays an important role in this matter. So for us, this meeting was very important – Igor Strichyk said.
