The head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry stressed that Hungary is ready to take steps to restore trust in relations with Ukraine.
At the meeting between Ukraine and Hungary in Warsaw, the Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said that his country is willing to grant 50 million dollars in loans for road construction in Transcarpathian region, the UNIAN wrote.
The head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry confirmed that in Warsaw, during talks with the Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin, they reached agreements on the appointment of an official responsible for cross-border economic cooperation. This is stated on the website of the Hungarian government.
Also, the Hungarian Foreign Minister stated that "in a spirit of restoration of the basis for trust" the Hungarian side is willing to grant a loan of $ 50 million to finance the construction of roads in Transcarpathia.
In addition, he said that he had told Klimkin that Hungary would continue to provide 100 scholarships from the state budget to Ukrainian students for studying at Hungarian universities. "It is in Hungary’s interest the conflict to be resolved as soon as possible," – Szijjarto said. He said that it would benefit all, not only Ukraine and Hungary, but also the Hungarian national minority in Transcarpathia. Previously, the UNIAN reported that Hungary suggested Ukraine to enter into an agreement to protect national minorities. The Hungarian proposal implies that both countries will refrain from policies that will lead to assimilation of national minorities and change in the composition of nationalities in Transcarpathia.
