How the dynamics of cargo traffic has changed in Transcarpathia (Infographic)

During January-May 2016, 2,210.1 thousand tons of cargo have been shipped in Transcarpathia by all modes of transport which is 0,6% less compared with the corresponding period of 2015.

The volume of freight traffic by rail, compared to the same period last year, has decreased by 27.3% and in January-May 2016 amounted to 429.6 thousand tons

Building materials, ferrous metals and timber cargo account for the largest share of total rail traffic. Compared to the same period last year, the volume of grain transportation has decreased by 99.5%, timber – by 85.0%, oil and oil products – by 68.5%. Meanwhile, the volume of building materials transportation has increased by 21.9%.

In January-May, road transport companies transported 1780.5 thousand tons of cargo, which is 9.1% more than in the corresponding period of the last year. The freight turnover, which has increased by 1.1%, amounted to 1759.6 million tonne-kilometre.

As you can see from the bottom graph, rail transportation, which account for far less share in total volume, is losing its position with each year.
