How many cigarettes has the Transcarpathian customs seized this year?

Since the beginning of 2015, officers of the Transcarpathian customs office have made 157 reports of violations of customs regulations, under which 389,799 packs of tobacco products totaling nearly UAH 3.4 million have been seized. During the same period last year, 130 reports of violations of customs regulations were made over illegal transportation of 207,922 packs of cigarettes worth a total of UAH 2.1 million.

In 66 cases, the vehicles that were used to hide or move cigarettes, were seized. Their total cost is UAH 9.7 million. During 11 months of 2014, vehicles were seized in 45 cases totaling almost UAH 2.1 million.

Tobacco products were moved across the customs border of Ukraine both concealed from the customs control – 118 cases, and outside the checkpoints – 39 cases in which 59,580 packs of cigarettes in the amount of 601,431 UAH were seized.

The most common brands of cigarettes transported in violation of customs rules are: "JinLing", "Marlboro", "LM", "Pryluky." Also, recently there have been more cases of illegal transportation of tobacco products of Belarusian brands "Fest" and "NZ".

During 2015, customs officers have sent to law enforcement authorities 77 reports of illegal actions that may contain signs of crimes under Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
