The Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groisman ordered the head of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine Roman Nasirov to immediately carry out an investigation into the incident in the city of Chop regarding an attempt to export high-quality raw wood abroad, despite the ban under the Ukrainian legislation, the Uryadovy Portal informs.
As is known, there was a scandal in this city about the attempt to export 24 cars of high-quality wood. This raw wood, the export of which is prohibited by law, was not examined, because it was declared as firewood.
"We have a ban on the export of timber. By and large, the rule is valid, but the information made public by activists that I saw is outrageous," – Volodymyr Groisman said commenting on this incident.
An internal investigation, according to the leader of the government, should identify responsible persons who should be punished according to the law.
In addition to customs officers, representatives of the "Ukrzaliznytsia" JSC as well as ecology inspectorate and foresters also shoud be subject to investigation in order to identify their possible involvement in the incident, Volodymyr Groisman said, "It’s all connected. So I commend to promptly investigate and to bring all [those guilty] to justice and they should be fired immediately."
