A gastronomic guidebook to Transcarpathia, which was published as a free supplement to the popular magazine "Magyar Konyha" ("Hungarian cuisine"), was presented in Budapest.
The presentation was attended by Istvan Greja, the commissioner for cooperation between the regions of Szabolcs-Szatmar-Bereg and Transcarpathia, Laszlo Brenzovych, the head of the Society of Hungarian Culture of Transcarpathia (KMKSZ), Andras Meshter, the head of the Transcarpathian Hungarian Tourist Board (KMTT) and Jozsef Vinko, the editor-in-chief of the magazine "Hungarian Cuisine".
Istvan Greja stressed that this guidebook not only tells about the gastronomic and historic attractions of Transcarpathia, but also shows the efforts of the Government of Hungary to promote the improvement and development of tourism in the region, where the Hungarians live.
Laszlo Brenzovych noted that although this region over the past 100 years has belonged to five different states, the only advantage of this is that gastronomy in Transcarpathia is extremely diverse; Hungarian, Czech, Ukrainian, Romanian, Russian, Rusyn and even Caucasian cuisine is represented; in many establishments.
In total, the guidebook includes 190 restaurants, hotels, boarding houses, spas, cafes, pubs, confectioneries, bars, as well as markets, winemakers, breweries, etc. It also includes beautiful views of Transcarpathia, as well as dishes that youn can enjoyed in Uzhgorod, Mukachevo, Beregovo, Vynogradiv districts, in the Upper Tisa and Verkhovyna regions.
The publication of the guidebook, thus, not only gives an idea of the diversity of the Transcarpathian cuisine, but also presents local history and culture. Adras Mesher also proposed to translate the publication into Ukrainian in order to expand the circle of readers.
