Free secondary legal aid: the second phase begins

<span id="goog-gtc-unit-11" class="goog-gtc-unit"><span class="goog-gtc-translatable goog-gtc-from-human">Today, June 30, at the press center of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration, there was a press conference on free secondary legal aid.</span></span>

            The event was attended by the acting head of the main territorial department of justice in Transcarpathian region Ivan Almashi, the director of the Regional center to provide free secondary legal aid

Vasyl Popadynets, the director of the Uzhgorod local center to provide free secondary legal aid Mykhailo Davydenko and the chairman of the Lawyer Concil of Transcarpathian region Oleksiy Fazekosh.

         According to Ivan Almashi, the social program of free secondary legal aid was launched on January 1, 2013. It was then when regional centers to provide FSLA at the Ministry of Justice started working to ensure the participation of lawyers from the state in criminal, civil and administrative proceedings.  

Vasyl Popadynets told reporters that the regional center to prvide FSLA would conclude contracts with lawyers who provide services to certain categories of population at the expense of the state. 

Currently, 63 lawyers are working in the FSLA system in Transcarpathia under contracts. In total, 72 lawyers are registered. The FSLA system is being implemented in stages.

Mykhailo Davydenko said that from January 1, 2013, FSLA in Ukraine has been provided to persons under administrative detention.And also to those who are under administrative arrest and detained on suspicion of a crime, or to those held in custody as a pre-trial restraint. 

 

The official also informed that as part of the second phase of FSLA, on July 1, 3 local centers would start working in the region. In particular, in Uzhgorod at Zahorska st., 51, in Mukachevo at Nedetseya st., 39, and in Khust on Karpatska Sich st., 53a.

"Uzhhorod local center of FLSA will be serving residents of Uzhgorod and Chop and Uzhgorod, Perechyn, Velyky Berezny districts", – Mykhailo Davydenko said. Mukachevo local center will be providing services to residents of the city of Mukachevo, as well as Mukachevo, Svalyava, Volovets, Irshava and Beregovo districts. Khust local center will be serving residents of the city of Khust, as well as Mizhhirya, Rakhiv, Tyachiv, Khust, Vynogradiv districts.
