Free public transit for all car owners: this Friday only!

"Let’s go for a walk!" is this year’s motto of the European Mobility Week. The idea is to create an environment for safe pedestrian and bicycle traffic in cities and villages.
This year’s European Mobility Week pays special attention to safe walking and cycling, as well as the benefits it can have for health, the environment and your budget! Active means of travelling, such as walking and cycling, do not create harmful emissions and help keep our hearts and bodies healthy.
The Uzhgorod City Council has traditionally joined this European initiative this year. Thus, on Friday, September 20, at 9.15 am, on Nezalezhnist embankment, near the secondary school No. 3, there will be the "Lesson on road safety for young cyclists and pedestrians" from the patrol police of Transcarpathian region.
In order to convince Uzhgorod residents to drive less and to promote public transport, it is planned to hold the campaign "A Day Without a Car!". On Sunday, September 22, bus rides on the routes №18 "Epicenter – UzhNU and №20 "Domanyntsi" neighbourhood – Market" will be free of charge upon presentation of a technical passport for a vehicle.
The European Mobility Week is a pan-European initiative aimed at improving the environment and living conditions in the communities. The event encourages local governments in European countries to introduce and support sustainable transport development and encourage residents to try alternative modes of transport. It is held annually on September 16-22. Every year, European Mobility Week is dedicated to a different topic of sustainable mobility. This initiative promotes sustainable mobility approaches for the benefit of the citizens, and helps to create a culture that equally addresses the needs of pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.
