Fine for unfastened seat belt may be raised to 340 UAH?

The Ministry of Internal Affairs prepared a bill which proposes to increase the liability for certain types of offenses.

This document has been prepared within the framework of the National Action Plan for 2013, the "Komentari" reported.

The bill proposes to increase penalties for drivers for a variety of offenses.

In particular, the penalty for unfastened seat belt will increase the most: from 51-85 UAH to 170-340 UAH, as well as for "non compliance with police officers’ requests" – up to 1,020 UAH for regular drivers and up to 1,700 UAH for the officials.

There will be also a new penalty – for "placing items that prevent traffic of vehicles or their stopping or parking on the roadway" except where otherwise provided, they propose to impose a fine of 340-510 UAH or community service.

In addition, they want to grant the police the right "to carry out inspection of the technical condition of vehicles during their operation according to the procedure established by the Ministry of Internal Affairs."

As you know, April 15, amendments to the traffic rules in Ukraine entered into force.

Traffic police will not fine drivers for violation of the new traffic rules during the first month after their entry into force – until May 15.
