The best medium in the genre of chronicle is a picture. Of course, it can be described in words. But we remember things mainly in images. At least, the best of them are more vivid. And they convey emotions better. What was this year like for the region and for the city? We offer a chronicle of events without claim to comprehensiveness and objectivity. In frames. Author's view - exclusively for readers of Uzhgorod.in. We have already reviewed the first six months, here are the rest.
Night Ride is a new and very popular event. Night bike rides are becoming a real trend among young people, the number of cyclists in Uzhgorod is increasing, they themselves organize events and develop cycling infrastructure. The government does not participate in it, and then adopts a strange decision - to fine cyclists who ride in the city center. The decision is not fulfilled, and is important only as a sign of their attitude to cycling community. Night Ride becomes one of the most significant events of the season, and bikes become trendy.
This year's gathering of bikers has the dress code of the Roman Empire, so we can see Caesars on motorcycles and Cleopatras in the saddle behind them, and also the traditional remarkable stunt show from Hungary. Meanwhile, hotels thank the organizers: the event promotes tourism.
The medical and rehabilitation department opens in the regional orphanage in the city of Svalyava. The main goal is to help children achieve normal development to return successfully to their families.
In Uzhgorod castle, in honor of the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus, there was a concert of sacred music. The participants were "Cantus" and Transcarpathian Folk Choir. Although, they were not the only one to remember...
Uzhgorod regatta involving all of the Transcarpathian fleet - one of the most fun events of the season. This time, it is held in the same "deep" Uzh.
Elsewhere, it is deep for real. As of July 30, 2013, 25 deaths in the water were recorded in the region. Lifeguards are training to save people.
The hunt for drivers with foreign license plates is announced. Changes in legislation make the conditions for their stay in Ukraine stricter. Checks continue - customs officers with traffic police conduct raids, car owners are dissatisfied.
Heat. The intense heat. Bears in the rehabilitation center in Synevyr suffer from it too. They bathe in specially designed pools. Yes, we know that we have already showed the bears, but they are so great :)
Near the village of Pylypets, the Carpathian Cup of paraplaning sport is held for the 13th time. 67 athletes participate in the event, more than 20 came just for a pleasure to fly.
Several "national" bike rides combined with thematic tours take place in the city. On the day of St. Stephen, they welcome the Hungarian community, unfurling the flag during the event.
A special mission arrived to Uzhgorod - NGO "4 Paws" perform sterilization of stray dogs at their own expense. During their stay, several hundred dogs received special tags on ears indicated that they have been vaccinated and sterilized. Unfortunately, the city government does not continue the campaign.
Independence Day and the Day of Strength: "Carpathian bear" tournament brings together the strongest men. This time, also from Slovakia and Czech Republic. The tasks are impossible. Or so it would seem...
On the Day of the City, Mukachevo again "Convenes friends." Among other acts at the concert, there are, in particular, Uzhgorod "Trysta8isim", "Rock-H", and VV with Oleg Skrypka. It was good.
The First Bell is always a moving holiday.
UzhNU starts a new academic year expanded - the establishment merged with the TSU. Of course, under the leadership of Fedir Vashchuk, who is now considered to be one of the most influential people of the region.
At the "Beregfest", they cooked the record bograch - more than two thousand liters.
In Kolochava, they made an original medical-tourist attraction - hive-couch: both interesting and healing.
Tourist season in the Carpathians is ongoing. The first thing that attracts visitors is, of course, the nature. Cycling tourism is also developing.
25 years ago, Soviet anti-alcohol campaign was canceled. And although the region still has not restored the volumes of viticulture and winemaking, this industry is still important. Vintage season continues - as of mid-October, over 17 thousand tons have been gathered.
The minister arrived! Oleksandr Klimenko, the head of the newly formed Ministry of income and taxes incorporating tax and customs authorities visits the checkpoint "Chop-Zahony" and meets with entrepreneurs in Western Ukraine.
In Uzhgorod, they present "Ivan Strong." The film is designed primarily for children and is based on the book by Transcarpathian writer Oleksandr Havrosh about another Transcarpathian - legendary strongman Ivan Firtsak-Croton.
On Narodna Square, despite opposition of the professional community and the public, they start work on the reconstruction, which the authorities insist on, despite its questionable legality and appropriateness. After a series of actions, that culminated in the crackdown of protesters, heavy machinery is set to work.
Defenders of Narodna Square hold a symbolic requiem for the Square - the one it was used to be.

Muscles and bikinis in Uzhgorod. The open bodybuilding and fitness championship of Transcarpathia takes place. Later, Marina Kisiv, who wins the title here, will become the fitness champion of Ukraine.
Student riots! An absolutely unexpected event happened. Due to the sudden cancellation of autumn holidays, children rebelled and protested near the City Hall. Then, they marched to the Regional State Administration and along the streets of the city, blocking the traffic. The event became famous not only nationwide but also internationally. But schoolchildren did not receive their holidays back.
Jazz music can be heard in Uzhgorod. A world-class musician - Michael Patchez Stewart - performs at the festival "Pap Jazz Fest". He plays great, but only couple dozens of listeners stay for his performance at the end of the evening.
On the St. Martin's Day in Mukachevo, traditionally the main participants are the children who march with self-made lanterns. The festival with a spectacular fire show beats Uzhgorod, where the Day of the City was even boycotted by some citizens.
In Mukachevo... Japanese cherries are blossoming. Indeed, the weather is more like in the spring rather than in approaching winter, but nobody expected this.
In the village of Korolevo, the community tired of waiting for government actions raise 50,000 UAH and buy asphalt to repair roads. They did not stop on that - the community provided for repair of streets with cobblestones.
In the village of Tereblya, they are finally ready to accept relocatees from Solotvyno that is on the verge of collapse. People seem to have no great enthusiasm, but the Vice Prime Minister Vilkul arrives to open the town. In Tereblya, they built 8 apartment buildings, 17 houses, a school and a kindergarten. The Governor announces - soon the mining exploration will be conducted here, they want to build a new salt mine instead of the one in Solotvyno.
November 24, despite the heavy rain, the supporters of European integration of Ukraine gather on Teatralna Square in Uzhgorod. This is just the beginning...
December 26, students rally in the streets with demands to support Ukraine's European course. They march on the streets of the city, near the administration they meet with the Rector of UzhNU. Fedir Vashchuk says that UzhNU is and will be a Europe-oriented university and promises that students will not be punished for protests.
A number of events is held in Uzhgorod: meetings, assembly on Teatralna square, marches... Elation and Ukrainian-European symbols prevail. The main slogan is "Transcarpathia is Europe!"...
On the night of November 30, the country changed. Protests have another character and from now one will be held almost daily.
The assembly on Sunday December 1 gatheres full Teatralna Square. December 2nd, the protesters demand Uzhgorod and Transcarpathia to join the national strike. The word "revolution" can be heard offten.
The Uzhgorod City Council session, held on December 2, will be called "revolutionary." The deputies adopt compromising appeal to the government on the events at the Euromaidan. However, there is also a victory: under the public pressure, the deputies did vote for the decision to amend the regulations. Now the results of roll-call votes are open to everyone, not just the mayor. Not agreeing with the compromising appeal and the fact that Uzhgorod is not joining the strike, the protesters try to block the exit from the session hall.
Revolution time in Uzhgorod. In addition to the assembly, other actions are held. There is a "march of thousands" to support the March of millions in Kyiv. Youth burn symbols of the Party of Regions. People are called to go to Kyiv. The colors of the season are yellow and blue. See more in our photo report.
The car of the Euromaidan activist, Uzhgorod City Council deputy Yaroslav Shafar was burned down.The intentional arson occurred 10 meters from the administrative building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region. The results of investigations into arsons of several dozen cars, that have occurred in the course of the year, are still unknown.
But preparations for the holidays can not be cancelled. In the "Mustard Seed" Lane they set up a "gingerbread house" with live sheep inside.
Santas ran on the streets of Uzhgorod. As part of the Night Run, that came to replace the Night Ride, dozens of santas campaigned for active and healthy lifestyle.
Mikolajczyk Parade - one of the favorite holidays in Uzhgorod - was accompanied by angels (the youngest participants) and a bright fire show.
New Year Fair in Uzhgorod, organized by the public, was intended to prove that European holidays are possible in Uzhgorod. It was interesting and fun, and the kids were treated to the Euro-cake.
As part of the campaign "Become a Santa Claus!", nearly a hundred children with special needs received gifts from caring adults. Holidays continue, do not forget to do good!
