EU intends to introduce Covid passport: how it will affect visa-free regime and migrant workers

The introduction of Covid passport with a certificate of no coronavirus infection is not going to hamper visa-free travel from Ukraine to EU countries.

This was stated by the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Vadim Prystayko.

The EU is indeed discussing the introduction of Covid passport because one of the EU members raised it. The WHO does not recommend to do it however. The Government agrees with what the WHO recommends. Because you can get a passport, and catch the virus the very next day. Moreover, the situation is aggravated by the fact that there have been cases of coronavirus re-infection, in particular in China. Therefore, the effectiveness of such measures are is an important question which, I am sure, neither Greece nor the EU has the answer to, – he said.

Prystayko believes that a passport can be something like health insurance, which every tourist is required to have.

Previously, Prystayko was authorized to negotiate with European countries, which intend to formally invite Ukrainian workers for seasonal works. He has had several phone conversations with EU officials about making a single effective mechanism for providing such opportunity to Ukrainians wishing to work abroad.
