Encampment of Transcarpathian Roma was burnt to ashes in Kyiv (PHOTOS)

The Roma encampment, which was located on the Berezniakivska Street in Kyiv for a long time, was burnt to ashes by unknown.

The encampment of 70 people moved to the capital from the town of Beregovo in Transcarpathian region. The majority of them are children. The people put their tents in the raven between the Dnieper and the railway lines. They earned money by collecting scrap metal sometime locals helped them with food and clothing.

15 men wearing civilian clothing came to the encampment and eight times shot from the gun on Friday. Six times shot in the air and twice in the dog. They required them to get out from Kyiv and set on fire the tents. Almost all Roma belongings and document burnt.

According to Roma, they recognized a couple of attackers who were already familiar them police officers. Those regularly came to the encampment in order to demand 10-15 hryvnia from them.

‘As far as we did not have money today, they burnt. Completely everything. 15 men from the police arrived, though they were wearing civilian clothing. Set on fire all tents. Some people’s documents even burnt. And, besides, they shot the dog’, – said Roma Rita.

The majority of encampment bought tickets and went to Beregovo, although their relatives live in poverty there as well.

At the same time the Ministry of Emergency do not comment on the situation, noting, that the proceedings possible only after the Roma people write a statement about the police officers illegal actions.
