Day of Remebrance of the Defenders of Ukraine in Uzhgorod Castle (PHOTOS)

On August 29, the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine, who died in the struggle for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, Transcarpathian Regional Local History Museum invites you to visit the permanent exhibition "Inter arma silent musa" ("When cannons fire, the muses are silent"). It features more than three hundred original exhibits, historical pictures, children’s drawings and gifts, historyl and popular editions.

Many participants of the Revolution of Dignity, the defenders of Ukraine in the area of the ATO and the Operation of the Joint Forces have become close friends of the museum during the years of war in the east of Ukraine. The staff and visitors of the museum are sincerely grateful to the activists of the public organization "Search-West" and volunteers of the "Black Tulip" expedition (headed by Oleksandr Rusin) who worked in the war zone in the area of the Ilovaysk entrapment in the east of Ukraine. From there they brought a large number of war-torn weapons, military equipment, and soldiers’ belongings. At the cost of their lives, activists and volunteers were collecting the remnants of broken machinery and human bodies, burnt documents to bring information about events at the front.

This display of the museum contributes to the preservation of memory and forms a respectful attitude to the soldiers who protect the Motherland in the East of Ukraine.
