Czechs celebrate their national holiday in Transcarpathia

Today, 30 October, a delegation from the Czech Republic, which included – Deputy Foreign Minister Tomas Dub, Deputy Defense Minister Michael Hrbata, Hetman of Vysočina Jiri Behounek, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic in Ukraine Ivan Pochuh – a total of about 40 guests arrived in Uzhgorod. 

The large delegation will stay in Transcarpathia for a few days, and the visit is dedicated to the Czech national holiday – the 94th anniversary of independence of Czechoslovakia, wich included Carpathian Rus as an autonomy. 

In the small hall of the regional council building the celebration on this occasion was held. Guests and representatives of the Ukrainian side talked about a common history and modern collaboration. In particular, the fact that during 2008-2012 Czech Vysočina and Transcarpathia have jointly implemented 35 investment projects totaling more than 20 million hryvnias, along with about 20 projects of cultural nature. 

To further extend this cooperation, representatives of the Transcarpathian Regional Council and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ukraine signed an agreement of intent to conclude the Memorandum of understanding for the development of tourist routes.
