Since the beginning of 2012 employees of Chop customs have instituted 2408 cases over violation of customs rules worth about 60 mln. hryvnias. This was informed by the chief of Chop Customs Oleksandr Pohylko during a joint press conference with his counterpart from Slovakia Milan Kachurik – Head of Customs Administration of Michalovce.
Also, 16 criminal cases for a total of 4.7 million hryvnias have been instituted. Of which: 3 – over smuggling of arms and ammunition; 9 – over smuggling of drugs, 4 – over smuggling of goods and vehicles.
As for the section of Ukrainian-Slovak border, scince the beginning of the year Chop customs officers have recorded 433 violations of customs laws, the cost of the offense of which amounts to 11.7 mln hryvnias. 4 criminal cases over smuggling amounting to 645 thousand hryvnias have been instituted.
Most documented customs offenses have been committed by citizens of Ukraine – 223 cases, Slovakia – 104 cases, citizens of other states – 106 cases.
For his part, Milan Kachurik noted collaboration with Chop customs in exchanging information on possible violations by unscrupulous people that gave positive results on all sections of the Ukrainian-Slovak border.
