Chop border guards are improving border infrastructure

While carrying out interventions to strengthen the protection of the state border, border guards not only fight illegal immigrants and smugglers, but also try to improve border infrastructure. This, in turn, will help improve the quality of combating offenders on the borders with Poland, Slovakia and Hungary.

To this end, on the initiative of the Chop border guards, in the three border districts – Velyky Berezny, Perechyn and Uzhgorod – there were meetings with acting heads of district state administrations, chairmen of district and village councils, representatives of organizations and institutions. The main theme of these meetings was the establishment and improvement of cooperation between border guards and communities to assist in the engineering arrangements of the state border with the EU countries. Those include cleaning of rides, restoration of control strips, roads and trails, repair of border marks and information. These measures are aimed to meet the requirements of border and environment legislation, to enable countering offenders and so on.

In each district, the meetings were held in the form of constructive dialogue, during which the parties propositions were considered, ways of solving and deadlines were set out. As officials and local communities stated unanimously, border protection in border districts is the number one objective, and local residents will provide all necessary assistance for border guards.
