Chernivtsi ladies will not receive illegal brand shoes

This Sunday (14.04.13) at the Ukrainian-Hungarian border Chop customs officers found in one of the vans a consignment of expensive branded shoes which a Ukrainian entrepreneur wanted to import to Ukraine without paying customs duties and taxes to the budget.

Returning from Milan to Chernivtsi, a 49-year-old driver of the minibus "Mercedes-Benz" at the ​​customs checkpoint "Tisa" indicated in the declaration 12 items of the luggage with personal belongins only and asserted the absence of goods subject to taxation.

However, when officers of Chop Customs conducted an in-depth incpection of the luggage compartment of the vehicle, they found four boxes of branded goods. It turned out that an unfamiliar woman in Milan had ask the driver to deliver 12 pairs of women’s shoes in various sizes and colors made in Italy by famous brands «Louis Vuitton» and «Christian Louboutin» as well as a handbag by «Louis Vuitton» to a resident of Chernivtsi. Knowing the customs legislation, whereunder only the goods worth up to 500 Euros are permitted for import to Ukraine, the enterprising driver decided to try his luck for a reward, hoping to "slip through" the customs control.

 The customs officers drew up a protocol against the Ukrainian under Article 472 of Customs Code of Ukraine and attracted commodity experts to assess undeclared goods. The said brand shoes were seized and placed at the customs warehouse. According to the Internet information, each pair of such shoes and sandals costs not less than one thousand dollars, and the price of the bag is about 2,700 dollars.
