Caught on bribe: the prosecutor’s office approved the indictment against an official of the State Ecological Inspectorate

The procedural prosecutor of the prosecutor’s office of Transcarpathian region approved the indictment against the department head of the State Ecological Inspectorate in Transcarpathian region, who was detained for demanding 7 thousand hryvnias of undue benefit.
During the investigation, the evidence was collected to confirm that the official was demanding money from a Transcarpathian for not making obstacles in the business activities related to mining.
The whistleblower, a local private entrepreneur, appealed to law enforcement for help.
On October 1, 2019, the suspect was detained by the prosecutors of the prosecutor’s office of the region while receiving the second part of a bribe in the amount of 2 thousand hryvnias.
On the basis of the collected evidence, the actions of the suspect are classified under Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (solicitation and receipt of undue benefit by an official holding a responsible position).
The indictment was sent by the prosecutor’s office to the Uzhgorod city and district court for consideration on the merits, the press service of the prosecutor’s office of Transcarpathian region reported.
