The details of the criminal case reported by the Transcarpathian Police reminds the plot of the popular television series "Breaking Bad", in which a former teacher decided to make methamphetamine.
However, in the village of Dubrynychi, Perechyn district, the laboratory was opened by an even more interesting specialist – an anesthetist, who was assisted by a man previously sentenced for drug-related crimes.
Transcarpathian police spread the information under a dull title: "Police in Transcarpathia is investigating a theft of equipment by an official for the manufacture of drugs." But there is no shortage of interesting details. Here is what the law-enforcement officers say:
"The Transcarpathian Police began an investigation into the laboratory for the manufacture of narcotic substances found on the territory of Perechyn district.
Yesterday, September 22, in the course of operative search activities, employees of the Office for the Prevention of Narcotic Crimes found a special laboratory equipment for the manufacture of drugs in a building on the territory of abandoned farm in the village of Dubrynychi, Perechyn district.
The police found that two people – a 39-year-old previously convicted resident of Uzhgorod and a 33-year-old local resident, who works as an anesthetist – organized the manufacture of psychotropic methamphetamine substance on the property owned by a 67-year-old local resident.
To manufacture narcotic substances, the men were using special laboratory equipment – condensation tubes, reverse fridge.
In the premises where drugs were manufactured, the police found a backpack containing 200 pills of unknown origin (total weight is 150 grams), syringes with unknown substance residues, bottles with yellow liquid, two metal dishes with powdered substance, a condensation tube, a flask with a brown-colored liquid, a rubber hose, as well as a syringe with a clear liquid.
During the inspection of the premises, there were a 39-year-old Uzhgorod resident and a 33-year-old anesthetist inside. During the inspection, the latter gave the policemen an ampoule with a prescription drug, two A4 sheets with formulas, special forms for the prescription of narcotic and psychotropic drugs.
With the consent of the 33-year-old man, a search was carried out in his home. At the attic, the police found special laboratory equipment. In the room, they also found an ampoule for prescription drugs, a 2-liter jar with a clear substance, one 1-liter bottle with a clear substance and another 1.5-liter bottle more than half full of a brown-colored liquid. Also, a brown liquid was found in a 1-liter vaporizer.
All the evidence was taken by the police. An investigation was initiated under Part 2 of Article 313 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, that is, taking possession of equipment intended for the manufacture of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues by an official.
