Brand goods of leopard and python leather were seized at Transcarpathian border

Chop customs officers on Ukrainian-Hungarian border prevented an illegal attempt to import a consignment of undeclared branded goods from Italy into the territory of Ukraine.

A shuttle bus "Milan – Chernivtsi" with 12 passengers arrived at the customs checkpoint "Tisa". During the customs clearance procedure, the citizens reported in declarations the information on personal belongings and currency.

When customs officers checked the bus luggage compartment, they found three cardboard boxes with goods of famous brands: «Versace Collection», «Silvano biagini», «Franco bombana» and «Pasotti», which had not been listed in the declaration and not claimed during oral questioning. Among the branded things there were 10 women and men wallets of genuine leather, 8 women’s leather belts, 7 umbrellas and 127 pairs of women’s tights. One of the passengers admitted that he was carrying the goods across the border for a money consideration at the request of an unknown woman from Naples (Italy) to deliver them to another woman in Donetsk. He knew nothing about the contents of the boxes, and therefore he did not declare it.

According to preliminary commodity estimates, designer purses and belts made of leopard and python leather, umbrellas with silvered and gilt coatings cost several thousand hryvnias. The protocol under Article 472 of the Customs Code of Ukraine was executed against our compatriot for not declaring goods subject to mandatory payment of customs duties.

Branded goods, the final cost whereof will be determined by commodity experts, were seized and put for storage at the customs warehouse until the court decision.

Overall in January this year, Chop customs officers have made 199 reports of violations of customs regulations at 7 million hryvnias.
