Border crossing with Moldova and Slovakia will be simplified

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is interested in simplifying the procedure for crossing state borders with Moldova and Slovakia. So, February 12, the government adopted a decree "On submission of the Protocol amending the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Moldova on the activities of the railway transport for ratification by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine."

Also, they adopted the document "On signing the Ukrainian-Slovak Agreement on amendments and supplements to the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Slovak Republic on railway transportation across the state border."

The agreements with Moldova and Slovakia will simplify procedures for border crossing by rail and will make transportation of passengers and goods more convenient and comfortable.

Thus, the Protocol to the Ukrainian-Moldovan agreement provides for improving the conditions of transit railway transportation between the two countries by facilitating the conditions for crossing the border by train. After the ratification of the Protocol by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the trains of one party crossing the border of the other party and moving through its territory without stops shall not be subjected to border control.

This, according to experts, will accelerate the speed of transit rail traffic. It also suggests an increased level of trust between Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova. This is especially worth considering in the context of the fact that Ukraine is among the three main importers of Moldova, and the total trade turnover between the countries each year is more than $ 1 billion. So both parties are set to further constructive cooperation in improving transportation.

In turn, the procedure for crossing the state border between Ukraine and Slovakia will be simplified for railwaymen performing their official duties. According to the document, railway workers will have stamps on border crossing affixed not on their passports, but on a separate sheet indicating all the necessary data. This will greatly accelerate the procedure of the border crossing on the railways, the developers of the document believe.
