Be careful! Do not leave money and valuables in cars! Beware of thieves!

The thieves use scanners that switch off alarm systems and steal money and valuables. 

Statistics show that in the last two weeks about a dozen burglaries of vehicles have been committed in Transcarpathia, mostly in Uzhgorod and Mukachevo.

The M.O. of the crimes shows that they are committed by professionals. It is possible that they have come from other regions.

The thieves select cars parked on streets near shops, gyms. They disable car alarm systems using a special scanner and steal everything of value: money, documents, laptops and more.

Here are some examples.  In Mukachevo, a woman in the evening parked her car "Hyundai" on the street, and unknown criminals broke into it. The burglers took money in the amount of 600 hryvnia, a laptop, a tablet and more. In total, the losses amounted to 37,000 hryvnia.

Also in Mukachevo, in the evening, the thieves, by scanning the alarm system, broke into a car "Suzuki" that was on the parking lot near the store and stole money in the amount of 7,000 hryvnia, a camera and a video camera. The amount of losses was 15,000 hryvnia.

In Uzhgorod, a purse with documents and money in the amount of 7,000 hryvnia was stolen from a minibus "Ford". From another car – a "Chevrolet" parked on Narodna square, right near the RSA building – unknown criminals stole a handbag, in which the owner had recklessly left 400 U.S. dollars, 3,000 forints, two mobile phones and documents.

In all cases, the investigation was launched, the thieves are wanted by the police. Meanwhile, the police advise motorists to be careful and not to leave money and valuables in cars, even for a short time.
