At the session of the city council they propose to declare 2013 “the architectural year” (DOCUMENT)

At the session of the City Council, which is scheduled for March 29, they will be considering the draft decision, which proposes to announce 2013 the year of the preservation and restoration of historical and architectural heritage of the city of Uzhgorod.

The activists have long been proposing that and even developed an illustrative list of measures, for example, the restoration of at least one of the iconic facades of the historical center at the expense of the city budget.

In the document, which is posted on the City Council site, the Department for Culture, Sport, Youth and Family (Bobrov Ye.V.) together with the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning (Sheba O.V.) are ordered within a month to develop a plan of activities aimed at the preservation and restoration of historical and architectural heritage of the city of Uzhgorod and approve it at the next meeting of the executive committee.

As referred to in the document, the project is aimed at "the increase of the tourist attraction of the city, the preservation and restoration of the historic environment, effective prevention of deterioration and destruction of the architectural heritage of the city."

The specific steps provided for "the architectural year" will be known later, for now everything depends on the decision of the session, which has to support the proposal.
