August 23, around 19:30, at the electrical substation on Babyak – Pryladobudivnyky street, behind the supermarket "Epicentre", an accident occurred, the assistant deputy of Uzhgorod City Council Vitaliy Gregor informed.
As a result of a probable arson, the central cable manhole caught fire – houses in almost whole "Novy Rayon," the Bozdosh park, the gas filling station, hypermarket "Epicenter", shops and businesses and so on were left without power supply.
The emergency repair team of the "Zakarpattyaoblenergo" PJSC, fire trucks, investigative team of Uzhgorod city police department were sent at the scene.
The electricity supply was restored in the evening of the same day, however, emergency works continue, as they need to replace damaged cable channels and carry out a series of works on the reconstruction of the main power supply line.
