There were no special events in Uzhgorod on June 28, the Constitution Day. Only the police orchestra played on Teatralna Square. However, while walking the streets of the city, we notice some houses "celebrating" by hanging flags of Ukraine, such as: on the "Egan" pub on Voloshin street and on the facade of the Greek-Catholic diocese episcopal residence, on A. Bachynskyi Square.
Here, near the Holy Cross Cathedral, we noticed artist, teacher of Uzhgorod College of Arts of the Transcarpathian Art Academy Oleksiy Fedor at work.
He was skillfully drawing the street, the buildings in front of him.
Nearby, in the residence garden, his colleague, teacher of the Transcarpathian Art Academy Roman Pylyp settled down with drawing implements under the trees. "In this way, I honor the Day of the Constitution of Ukraine. Some people say that the day off is to rest. For me, it’s vice versa – to work" – he says. He shows an album of sketches that he has made in different cities of Ukraine, and in Transcarpathia. Later, he moved to another street, because he says that lately he has been attracted to the old architecture of Uzhgorod. Especially now, when witnesses of history, old buildings in the old town are disappearing one by one…
