This Sunday, Vynogradiv district will be the epicenter of history

The Ethnic Festival "Kuruc Fest" will be held in the village of Petrovo in Vynogradiv District this week, July 13.

The Kuruc festival was initiated by Hungarian public organization "Pro Cultura Subcarpathica" for the purpose of folk traditions revival. Kuruces are the name of the participants of anti-Habsburg uprisings. They participated in the national liberation war led by Ferenc Rákóczi II. Mostly Kuruces were ethnic Hungarians, but there were Slovaks and Ruthenians-Ukrainians of Transcarpathia among them.

As for the program of the "Kuruc Fest", the greatest emphasis is on folk music and dance. Among the invited guests, there are Transcarpathian Hungarian folk bands, famous Hungarian artist Istvan Pal "Szalonna", Miklos Krichfolushi, who will dance the Hungarian folk dance "Verbunk", accompanied by the orchestra "Borzsa-Vári".

The events of the Kuruc era will be reconstructed by archers from the village of Shalanky. At the festival, there will also be artisans and craftsmen, wine tasting and portraits painting. In addition, there will be horse-riding for the festival visitors promises.
