On September 20, you can taste pretzels in Transcarpathia

On Saturday, September 20, in the village of Astey in Beregovo district, there will be the IVth traditional festival of Hungarian pretzel "Peretz."
The village has been known since ancient times for its original pastries. Locals say that back in the 1950s, in almost every yard in the village, there were special large ovens for baking bread and other food. Those are so-called "bubosh-kementse" (brokeback ovens). One of those, with the assistance of the village head Hanna Nagy, was built right in the field, where they decided to hold the festival every year. Thus, the ancient tradition was revived in the village.
The festival program starts at 11.00: in the center of the village, guests will be able to enjoy Hungarian cuisine, buy delicious pastries. In addition, the locals will tell about the history of "peretz" and show how to bake it. The grand opening - with dancing and performances - will be at 14.00, the Mukachevo.net informs.
