And what to live on?

"Admission campaign in UzhNU went successfully" – happily reported press service of the University on August 25. The message reads in particular that public order is fulfilled in full, "but there were some difficulties in some faculties, as well as in the rest of Ukraine." As of August 25 1,086 students are enrolled on a public funded basis. The public order in UzhNU for this year was 1,099 seats, so the task can actually be considered practically accomplished.

 The fee-paing education in the University attracted 815 people. Meanwhile, under the license UzhNU could take almost five times more – 3,970 people. Therefore, though the University fulfilled public order, it will earn very little, since not many people want to study in UzhNU for money. Even despite the fact that the new managerment took the unprecedented step – reduced the tuition fee.    

Now there is no unity between the administration and the teaching staff.  Earlier on the Internet sites of Transcarpathia the letter signed by the "Initiative Group of Teachers of Uzhgorod National University" was published. The authors said: "More than 5 faculties failed the admission on the public order. Even the acting rector admitted this at the meeting of the selection committee. Therefore, we can not expect additional cash flows from this year’s entrants."

Now there is not much hope to improve the situation on account of funds from fee-paying students.          

Therefore, the question of what funds the university is going to operate on, what budget teachers will receive salary from remains open.
