December 1 marks the 25th anniversary of the nationwide referendum to confirm the Act of Independence of Ukraine. On this occasion, an exhibition "People of Freedom" has opened in the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration.
More than two dozen informational exhibits show the history of people from different spheres of public life, whose struggle and work made the restoration of independence of Ukraine in 1991 possible.
"These people are very different – poets and politicians, soldiers and musicians, scientists and artists. And they resisted in different ways – some fought for the freedom of the people, some for the freedom of creativity, of thought, some with arms, while others – with a brush. Each of them was brutally broken – some in prison, others with physical or mental torture. None of them had the chance to realize their potential in full. They were not the ones who led the independent country, they did not finish wonderful song or poem, did not give the world another important invention or a beautiful picture. But they managed to save freedom inside, to carry it through imprisonment" – the organizers say.
The thematic exhibition "People of Freedom" in the lobby of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration is open for all comers.
