A Transcarpathian was convicted for an attempted trafficking of a Pakistani across the border

The sentence of Beregovo district court against a local resident, who, in July 2012, helped a citizen of Pakistan to illegally cross the state border, has entered into force.

The resident of Beregovo through his friends found a temporary home for harboring the Pakistani and organized his trafficking across the state border of Ukraine bypassing the checkpoints. When he was trying to take the foreigner to a district bordering with Hungary, they were detained by Ukrainian police.

During the preliminary investigation, the offender broke a pre-trial restraint – personal commitment – and for a long time was hiding from justice abroad.

Last year, the offender was arrested in Hungary and extradited to Ukraine.

Beregovo district court found him guilty of facilitating the trafficking of persons across the state border of Ukraine and sentenced this local resident to two years in prison.
