A tourist, who fell from an iced slope and slid into a 300-meter-deep crevice, was rescued in Transcarpathia

January 09, at 19:20, the operational and rescue service received a report that near the Rogneska valley (at the foot of the Mt. Petros in Rakhiv district), a 29-year-old resident of Kyiv had fallen from an iced slope and slid into a 300-meter-deep crevice. As a result, she suffered a leg injury and tears of hands and could not move on her own.

The accident was reported to the rescuers by her colleague (a 27-year-old resident of Kropivnitsky), who witnessed the accident.  The man went down to the victim and stayed near her until the arrival of the rescuers.

8 personnel members and two units of equipment of Yasinya and Rakhiv mountain search and rescue departments were sent to the Mt. Petros for search and rescue operations.

In difficult weather conditions (significant snow cover and the threat of avalanches), rescuers managed to find the tourists at 00:50 on January 10. The victim was immediately given anesthetics and had her injured leg fixed. Due to night time and the avalanche hazard, the rescuers decided to wait until the daylight.

In the morning, the rescuers began transporting the victim using special skids. Having overcome the distance of about 7 km, the rescuers got to their vehicle and took the victim to the Rakhiv District Hospital and at 15:10 handed her over to the doctors.

Currently, the life of the tourist is not in danger.
