A novel by a Transcarpathians writer is among the best books of the year in Ukraine

At the National book competition of Ukraine, the novel of our countryman Dmytro Keshelya "Family" became the winner in the category of "original genre."

Recently, the VII Kyiv book exhibition "Book contracts" took place in the Ukrainian House. Our region was represented by the famous writer Dmytro Keshelya. Thanks to him, today Ukrainian reader can know Transcarpathia of the middle of the last century. It was the dramatic period when farmers were being deprived of their land. When they tried to obliterate the old traditions and customs of the Transcarpathians by forcing new frameworks.

The new books of the writer have found many readers. Kristina Ivanova from Kyiv called Dmytro Keshelya’s writing "an ironic philosophy." And he is considered a representative of the school of magical realism. The presentation was very interesting, intense, extraordinary. Fragments from the writer’s novels were read at the exhibition. And the Lovachka mountain, where the author lives, has become a truly legendary place.

The director of the publishing center "Academia" Vasyl Teremko, a fan and promoter of D. Keshelya’s works, said: "He is currently the most valuable writer. and it is a pity that he is so little known. He lives and works in two worlds, the unreal, unfathomable space. Here are three new books – and it seems as is they are written by three authors: three styles, three elements, three spaces."
