A man tried to “quietly” smuggle across the border 90 bottles of “Martini Asti”

A citizen of Ukraine, crossing the Ukrainian-Hungarian border, tried to import in a minivan instead of two liters of wine, allowed by the domestic legislation, 90 bottles of expensive Italian wine without paying the appropriate tax.

Returning from Italy, a minibus driver during the control at the customs post "Tisa" both verbally and in writing assured that he was not carrying across the border any goods, subject to limitations. However, when customs officers checked the contents of the van luggage compartment, they found 15 cartons of alcoholic drinks. Thus, the illegal 90 bottles of Italian wine "Martini Asti", according to preliminary estimation costing over 16,000 UAH, had to be removed to the customs warehouse, ecxept two bottles that were returned to the Ukrainian (it is in such quantity that is permitted for import into Ukraine under the law).

Thus, for illicit transportation, customs officers executed against the driver a report of violation of customs regulations under section 472 of the Customs Code of Ukraine and confiscated the expensive wine.
