On Thursday evening a large old maple tree that was growing in the square on Dovzhenko Street fell down because of the wind gust. The tree was more than 15 meter height with the barrel of more than 50 centimeter in diameter, its age approximately is estimated in half a century. That is a real luck that the large maple tree with a massive crown fell inside the square rather than onto a very busy street where it could damage parked cars or even cars with people inside them.
It is necessary to take care of Uzhgorod trees, including its cutting or even replacing them with younger ones – the local authorities emphasize. Thus, according to the Department of City Improvement nearly 1700 trees need to be cut and over three hundred – removed because of their age and the accident rate.
By the way, this week they cut the linden trees on the Nezalezhnosti embankment, removed the accidental and dry branches and generally rearranged their crown appearance, – the press service of Uzhgorod City Council informs.
On Friday morning the public utility services were working on the fallen tree in order to saw barrel and clear the place of accident as soon as possible.
