The offense was prevented in the customs control zone of the customs post "Uzhgorod" of the Transcarpathian Customs. The truck, in which the hidden tobacco products were found, was driven by a citizen of Belarus.
According to the documents submitted for the customs control, sawn timber was being transported across the customs border of Ukraine from Russia to the Czech Republic in the "transit" mode. During the analysis of the customs control documents and as a result of risk analysis, customs officers decided to carry out a full customs inspection of the vehicle and the cargo. Consequently, hidden tobacco products were detected. At present, trademarks, the presence of excise stamps and the exact amount of the cigarettes is being established.
The above-mentioned actions are classified as a violation of customs rules, namely, transportation of goods across the customs border of Ukraine concealed from customs control as provided for in Part 1 of Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. The customs offense is being documented.
