A lane in Mukachevo will be named after a hero native of the city

Following the verification against the data of the State Enterprise "Unified Information Systems of Ukraine", it was found out that in addition to I. Turyanytsia street renamed by Hennadiy Moskal under decomunization, there is also I. Turyanytsia lane located nearby in Mukachevo. The lane was not in the list of the city toponyms subject to the law "On decomunization" provided by Mukachevo city council to the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration. As you know, Ivan Turyanytsia from 1946 to 1948 was the first secretary of the Transcarpathian Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine, as well as a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine, which is why the toponyms named after him in the Soviet period are subject to renaming.

In view of this, the head of the Regional State Administration H.Moskal made changes to his order "On renaming the streets in the city of Mukachevo of Transcarpathian region" dated April 13, 2016 and added a paragraph: "Turyanytsia lane in the city of Mukachevo in Transcarpathian region shall be renamed to Oleksiy Kalabishka lane." A native of Mukachevo O. Kalabishka served as a contract soldier in the 128th separate mountain infantry brigade and was killed in July 2017 near the occupied city of Horlivka in Donetsk region. He was buried in Mukachevo.
