A Japanese researcher has come to Transcarpathia in search for ethnic peculiarities

Norio Inagaki – a Japanese gentleman who is conducting a research at the Romanian Academy, Institute of Folklore Archive, Cluj. Some two years ago, he began a project aimed at founding the brightest samples of the non-material cultural heritage of different ethnos habiting on the territory of Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, and Serbia.

The researcher is aimed at authenticating the most characteristic song and dance curiosities and creating a thematic video-library on the basis of the mentioned institute. Moreover, he wants to publish a manuscript with the comparative analysis of the found samples.

Since the beginning of his research, Norio Inagaki has had the opportunity to get acquainted with the cultural heritage of the neighbouring Ivano-Frankivks region and Transcarpathia. Exactly a year ago, he was studying the ethnic peculiarities of the Voloskyi song and dance traditions of the Vynohradiv district.

This time, the guest is going to visit some highland and foothill areas of Transcarpathia and meet the local collectors and performers of folklore. The guest will be supported by the specialists of the Transcarpathian organizational and methodological centre of culture.
