On August 19, while checking the received operative information, the police of Uzhgorod district inspected the property of a 28-year-old resident of the village of Onokivtsi, Uzhgorod district.
In the homestead belonging to the man, the policemen found a plantation of a drug-containing plant. The owner of the plantation himself explained that he had found a package with seeds of an unknown plant on the roadside in the village. Having planted the seeds at home, he now has received a rich harvest, albeit of a crop prohibited for growing at home.
All 200 bushes, 1 to 2.5 meters high, were uprooted by the policemen and sent for examination. The very fact of illegal sowing of hemp was documented in accordance with current legislation.
The owner of the land was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. He is charged with criminal acts under Part 2 of Article 310 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The case is under pre-trial investigation, the Communications department of the Transcarpathian regional police infomed.
