A border guard with three thousand hryvnia bribe was detained at the checkpoint “Luzhanka”

The officer of the checkpoint "Luzhanka" of the Mukachevo border detachment wanted to give the bribe to his own colleague.       

On February 3, 2018, the military prosecutor’s office of the Uzhgorod Garrison in co-operation with the operational staff of the Department of Internal Security of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and the Office of the Security Service of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region, documented the fact of bribe giving by the serviceman of the Border Guard Service department "Luzhanka" of the Mukachevo border detachment.

The bribe of 3,000 UAH was intended for his own colleague, who was a member of the state border guard patrol, for the assistance to unidentified persons in moving 3,000 packs of cigarettes across the state border of Ukraine to the Republic of Hungary.

The cash was found and seized during the inspection of the scene. The detainee was arrested in accordance with art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine.

At present, the priority investigative measures are being taken, and the search on the border guard’s workplace is being conducted. After that, the sergeant will be notified of being suspected of committing an offense under Part 1 of Art. 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and the pre-trial restraint will be imposed on them, – the press service of the military prosecutor’s office of the western region of Ukraine reports.
