If Transcarpathia had not received today 1500 sets of peritoneal dialysis as humanitarian aid, the patients would have been doomed – the main nephrologist of Transcarpathia confirmed the shortage of medications for 18 seriously ill Transcarpathians. The region has used all the available drugs for peritoneal dialysis over the past years. Regarding the expected timing of the next delivery of dialysis drugs, the official website of the Ministry of Health states that it will be September-November 2018.
"Therefore, the situation became critical because no funds for this purpose was provided in the local budgets. In order to resolve the issue, in early July, the Director of the Department of Health of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration sent a letter to the acting Minister of Health. There has been no answer still. Since there was no other way out, we asked the head of the regional state administration and the suppliers for help", – V. Stryzhak said.
For now, the region is trying to find funds and materials for life support of 18 Transcarpathian patients on its own. Recall that yesterday, July 26, at the session of the Transcarpathian Regional Council, the deputies allocated a total of UAH 1.5 million for the purchase of medications for peritoneal dialysis through a redistribution of budget funds. According to V. Stryzhak, it will take 30 to 35 days to use the funds provided by the region through the public procurement procedure. In turn, one of the supplier companies today, July 27, provided as a humanitarian supply 1500 sets for peritoneal dialysis, which should be enough for 27 days.
