The police want to expand their powers to control cars with foreign registration

This is provided for in the bill №6626 "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On the National Police," which was registered on June 22 in the Parliament by Anton Gerashchenko Irina Efremova and Lyudmila Denisova (all from People’s Front).

In addition to a number of clarifications regarding the powers of the police, the bill provides for "ordering the records of cars with foreign registration in Ukraine":

– The bill No6626 amends Part 1 of Art. 26 of the Law of Ukraine "On the National Police", which will allow the police to form their own databases of vehicles with foreign registration that are temporarily staying in Ukraine, using both the information available and that received from the State Fiscal Service – the explanatory note of the bill states.

Thus, the police, in particular the patrol police, will have access to customs databases which record the status of a car with foreign registration. Until now the police has not had access to it, and any raids for foreign registered car owners were carried out only with the participation of customs officers.
