A resident of Lviv tried to carry over 2 kg of amber through the Transcarpathian customs (PHOTOS)

Today, at the checkpoint "Maly Berezny" of the Transcarpathian customs, customs officers found hidden 2.1 kg of amber in the car of a citizen of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian was traveling on private business to Slovakia by a car "Mercedes-Benz" with the Lithuanian license plate.

For customs control, the citizen chose the simplified customs control lane – "green corridor". However, taking into account the risks, customs officials decided to conduct thorough customs inspection of the car.

Before the customs control, the citizen orally stated that there were no items hidden from customs control or prohibited for export from Ukraine in his car.

However, during the in-depth inspection of the car, they found goods hidden from customs control – a naturally occurring yellow-brown substance – namely, amber. The processed (1.9 kg) and unprocessed (180 g) stone was hidden in structural cavities of the vehicle.

The actions of the citizen have signs of violation of customs regulations under part 1 of Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. Currently, the report on violation of customs regulations has been made, the car and the amber were seized. The determination of the cost of the seized goods requires additional assessment involving an expert.
